Bet you can’t eat just one!

Day 257.

Lay’s Potato Chips used to run ad campaigns around “Bet you can’t eat just one!”

laysThey tapped into the psyche of many people. I know for myself, it’s quite difficult to eat just one chip. You open the bag and keep a steady pace of bag to mouth, and before you know it you’ve eaten the whole bag. Even when you didn’t think you were all that hungry (but definitely when you’ve been drinking). I’d add a tube of Pringles and a bag of Doritos on this more-ish list as well.

So I choose to now just stay away from these products. This is just from a caloric standpoint. I won’t even go into how bad they are for your health –  all that salt, oil and sugar!

Bet you can’t drink just one!

I was thinking today about my new reality with alcohol. I accept now that I can’t drink just one glass of wine. It sometimes makes me sad – especially as I watched my friend when we were all on vacation together for the week. She had two small glasses. And that was that. She seemed to have no interest or desire to drink more than that in a day. I know in my heart, I would have poured myself through a bottle of wine as I spent the evening chatting with them all. And the evenings I did have with them, without drinking, were just as fun! That was a real eye-opener for me.

This no glasses of wine, it’s my new reality. No betting needed – I can’t drink just one. I accept it most of the time – but if I wobble thinking about it, I just recall how really great I’ve been feeling lately. In fact the last week I made note that I really have so much more energy now .. I don’t lose steam early in the evening like I used to.
