I have a pretty ambitious 2018 planned. I’ve come out of a long dark year and I’m ready to tackle this one heartily and with brio. I’ve stopped drinking wine for40 days now. I’m a month into reducing coffee. I now drink, at the most, one cup a day. That’s down from maybe a dozen cups!
Next on the list. Run a marathon.
For a number of personal reasons – and one physical fitness reason – I decided that I wanted to run a marathon. I had been doing some running over the last few years – but 5 miles was about the longest distance. For a number of personal reasons, I had stopped running.
My goal in this marathon (26.2 miles) is to never walk, only run, and to cross the line. I registered for a marathon in October.
And I’ve told some people I’m doing the marathon.
I have started walking again, and begin to run next week.
I have a book, and I have a schedule. I have a running club to join.
Go. Do. It.
P.S. This was a tough Wine O’Clock day. I had a busy productive day at work – and I used to really looking forward to sitting down with a glass of vino to just relax and unwind. That was a hard urge to leave behind. And as I battled through that, my thoughts were “I can’t even have a glass for ever.” And I battled through that with ONE. DAY. AT. A. TIME. And you know what? It works!
