Take a moment to feel grateful

Day 30!


I am so grateful to be here in this moment, sober and ready to keep going.

Each morning, Dr. Maya Angelou told Oprah, she takes a moment to feel grateful. “Thank you, Lord,” she says. “Thank you for this day. Thank you for the light coming through that window. Thank you. Thank you that I’m breathing. Thank you. Thank you for everything. Thank you for the phone call that told me that I have the job. Thank you even for the phone call that told me I’m not wanted anymore. Thank you because I know you have something better for me lined up.” 

I say thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • For purring cats
  • For a choice of healthy food
  • My generally good health
  • The ability to exercise
  • For a long stretch in the evenings (As spring approaches)
  • For being a curious person
  • For a car that runs
  • For a job I love
  • For a place I feel safe
  • In the end, for being an eternally optimistic person
